Napoli – Ponza (Amalfi Coast)

The Amalfi Coast is a world-famous stretch of coastline thanks to the beauty of its landscapes, and it’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our journey to discover the Amalfi Coast starts from Naples. It’s one of the most densely populated cities in Europe, rich with history, traditions, and world records: most notably the invention of pizza. The city is located by the sea, at the foot of the Vesuvius volcano which will gift you with unforgettable views. It’s no coincidence that Goethe famously wrote: “See Naples and die”.

From the port of Naples, we cross the Gulf as we go south to discover Capri. The island is part of the Campanian Archipelago and it’s located off the Sorrento peninsula. The coast is rocky and rugged with several sea caves, coves and cliffs. The most famous sea cave is the “Grotta Azzurra” (Blue Grotto) in which you can witness incredible luminous effects, thanks to the sunlight passing through a semi-submerged cavity and shining through the water.

To reach the second stop of our yacht tour, we have to cross the Gulf of Naples again, going north this time. The Island of Ischia is part of the Phlegrean Islands and it’s the third most densely populated island in Italy. The area has volcanic origins and, thanks to that, its hot springs are well known across Europe. One of the main attractions is the characteristic old small sea village of fishermen.

We continue our cruise sailing west in the Tyrrhenian Sea until we reach Ventotene. The island is part of the Pontine Archipelago and it’s the remains of an ancient submerged volcano. Ventotene has a length of 1,9 km (1,1 mi) and with only 746 residents, it feels like a place out of its time, uncontaminated. It’s a famous destination to go snorkelling thanks to the presence of ancient ruins of villas and aqueducts of the Roman era.

Our luxury yacht cruise comes to a close as we leave the Gulf of Naples to reach our final stop, the Island of Ponza in the Gulf of Gaeta. This little island (with a surface area of 7,5 km2) has a hilly landscape with a rocky, rugged coast. Its beautiful seabed is perfect for scuba diving. Apart from the underwater world, Ponza will capture your heart with its suggestive cliffs overlooking the sea and its sea stacks that rise on the horizon.
